Reviews: Tender Defender for Babies and Diaper Rash

I received The Tender Defender in my bluum box and it couldn’t have come at a better time. My little one was suffering from the worst diaper rash I had ever seen, and after using several different products the diaper rash was only getting worse!! I put ONE application of the Tender Defender on her overnight and the next morning the diaper rash was almost gone. One more morning application and by lunch time the rash was ALL GONE! –Evelyn R.

Your product was recommended to me by Stephanie M. who owns our local cloth diaper store. My daughter had a diaper rash for about a week and a half, and we were going to take her to the doctor if something didn’t help. My husband got it on Friday from the store and we started using it, along with the same diaper rash cream we’d been using. By Friday night, I had decided I was going to take her to the doctor Saturday morning. When she woke up on Saturday and I went to change her, her rash was almost gone, and by Saturday evening, there was no sign of it. My husband and I are super impressed and will be telling everyone about Tender Defender. Thanks for making such a great product! –Lisa K.

My little one has very sensitive skin and is prone to occasional, sometime severe, diaper rash. Nothing has worked as well as this does bringing her quick and complete rash relief. –Angela I.

This botanical, aloe based gel takes diaper rash prevention and treatment to a new level. Providing a layer of protection while letting your baby’s bottom breathe, Aloe Baby helps to eliminate the chance of bacteria without the use of harsh chemicals. Aloe Baby Tender Defender is chock full of gentle botanicals perfect for tender skin. –Max

My son had some diaper rash we believe related to the tooth he had cut that day. I put it on at bedtime with nothing else (no barrier cream) just to test and the rash was nearly completely gone by morning. –Tina K.

Not only great for diaper rash, but also for good to help heal all of the boo-boo’s of toddlerhood. This is such a great product. I had never heard of this before, but I’m so glad that I know about it now! –Laurie

Seemed to really help my daughter’s diaper rash and it smells gorgeous. Lovely stuff! Glad I got the sample [Travel Pack]. The diaper rash seemed to resolve much more quickly than without the gel. –Jana

My daughter’s diaper rash improved immediately. I also love the way she smells when we cuddle…I expected something more like a Desitin. But then later figured out that that was the way it was supposed to be, as opposed by something like Desitin. Thanks for a great product and I wish you the best!  –California Mommy

It’s a great product and works amazing on my 6 month old! We have had diaper problems before and this stuff gets it away quickly! –Helen

I like that it’s very gentle on baby’s soft skin and that it works under barrier creams. I hadn’t found anything that works well on my son, but this one shows promise! –Lisa

These Travel Packs are the perfect fit, and should have a home in everyone’s diaper bag! –Jill

Tender Defender goes on your baby’s skin as a first step, acting as a base coat and providing a healing layer before you apply any additional ointment. –Nicole

Tender Defender is better than a pain patch! My husband is bedridden and has a lot of sores on his bottom. Tender Defender has made it so much better that he doesn’t need his pain patch for those anymore. Thank you! –H.

I got this as part of the beta [testing] program, and we used used it on my 3 year old’s chronic eczema, for which the doctor had prescribed steroids. It turned his skin from scabby to clear over the period of a week. Great stuff! –David G.

This product is amazing! I was sick for a week and my nose was red and in pain. I tried everything, Vaseline, lotions, even chapstick but my nose was still scaly and killing me. As soon as I tried the Tender Defender my nose started to feel better. It was so soothing and within a day my bright red nose was healing. I no longer have a red nose but I’m still using the gel to keep my elbows smooth. It’s fantastic! –Lindsay P.

This product is amazing on the itchy, reddened patches on my hands. I am getting a rapid response to using it just like you would for a baby with diaper rash. I put it on and let it dry, then use the cream I got from the doctor. Finally, some relief! –Emma D.

I had this weird allergic reaction to a mango – apparently the skin of a mango has the same oil as poison ivy. My face and lips are now super itchy and nice and swollen. I put Tender Defender on it and it stopped itching and feels great now!!!!!!!!!! I’m not even going to take more Benadryl b/c it’s messing with my milk supply and the TD feels so good. –Lauren L.

I had an allergic reaction to my fake nails so I applied Tender defender to help heal my sore hands. It worked great! It seems to help soothe and heal a variety of rashes, dry skin and even allergic reactions too. Great stuff! I need to purchase a case of it for summer bug bites and sunburns. My friends all use it too. Great product….a definite MUST!!! –G.G.

I used the product on a skin irration on my 12 year old. She had very irrated skin due to an over-use of bandaid/medical tape to keep an area covered and protected. She said it immediately soothed her discomfort. I put it on a bad sunburn on my neck. Again, I experienced immediate reflief. Great Stuff! –J.G.

Anyone who has ever had cold sores knows how painful they can be. I use Tender Defender on cold sores. It promotes healing and soothes the pain. My cold sore seemed to heal a lot faster than usual. I also use it after working in the garden, it’s great for sunburns, chapped or wind-burned skin. A little bit goes a long ways and I love the fresh herbal scent. It works great! Thanks Tender Defender! I couldn’t be without it! –Barbara M.

Used it for jock itch, and it did a great job! It was gone in a couple days. My wife uses it for her calluses and cracked dry feet. Keeps them from cracking. She rubs it in her hands. Keeps her hands nice and moist too. And she put it on two sores…on her feet, and Tender Defender took care of it. –B.

My grandson kept asking me to scratch his back. After about the third time, I applied Aloe Baby to his entire back. He never asked me to scratch it again as the itching was gone! –Beverly S.

This product is FANTASTIC! My daughter Emily broke her arm last month (she is 8 yrs old). Her cast was irritating her skin around the edge of the cast, almost wearing a blister in one spot. I put some Tender Defender on the area. It did not sting at all…she said it cooled the irritated area & made it feel better! The next day it looked less inflamed & was not as sore. I also put some on my hands, which are constantly dry, chapped, & often crack & bleed due to repeated daily handwashing. This soothed, smoothed & healed my hands better than anything else I have tried. Thank you for such a fabulous product! –Stacy R.

Next Chapter for Aloe Baby

It’s official: Aloe Baby is going to be a big sister! That precious girl who adorns our company logo, for whom Tender Defender was created and the company was founded? If all goes well, she will be having a little brother in December or January!

Here at Aloe Baby, we’ve already been impacted significantly by this wonderful event. As CEO and Momma to our adorable Aloe Baby, I’ve been extremely sick with this pregnancy. My severe nausea has effected our ability to engage in marketing events and move our product into more brick & mortars, so it has slowed our progress somewhat. But as we navigate the medical screenings and monitor the little guy’s development, it also helps us remember what’s most important: good health.

After all, that’s what Aloe Baby was founded for: providing a well-researched, natural, botanical product to support skin healing.

Last weekend, we spent some time at a local Mom-2-Mom sale, where we met some terrific people. Laughter: we enjoyed a lot of that! But we also had some amazingly uplifting conversations as we connected with people of all ages who were experiencing myriad skin challenges. Our Travel Packs were a huge hit as folks were eager to try Tender Defender to see how it would work for them. We’re excited to see many of these kindred spirits “liking” us on Facebook, and we look forward to having them add to the conversation there (or here) about how Tender Defender works to support their families’ skin health.

We’re so excited that our little Aloe Baby is going to have a baby brother, and we welcome thoughts and prayers for good health! We will be sending out an announcement to folks on our mailing list and posting one on our Facebook page. Our announcement will have a celebratory coupon code for the largest-ever discount at our own online store. Find the coupon code on Facebook or join our mailing list for future discount codes. Our deepest hope is that Tender Defender can support your family’s good skin health!

Directions for Using Tender Defender

These directions are very important! Each step has its value.

Tender Defender Directions

Directions for using Tender Defender

  1. First, gently cleanse. Babies with very sensitive skin or sudden diaper rash that may be caused by environmental factors (diapers or wipes themselves) may do best with just a warm, wet washcloth.
  2. Apply a small amount of Tender Defender.
  3. Gently massage the Tender Defender into the entire affected area. For more serious rashes, especially those with significant fungal infection, the affected area may extend to the legs and torso. Use your hands to inspect the skin gently and reassure your baby that you love him and are taking the best care of him that you can!
  4. Completely air dry. It is important to provide the skin with as much air as possible! Your pediatrician may recommend diaper-free times each day. During these times, the baby’s skin is getting much-needed exposure to fresh air. You can give a dose of that fresh air between diaper changes! This is also important because leaving any moisture behind may feed the microbes we are trying to wipe out! And using plant-based powders to dry the area provides the microbes with yummy starches to eat. Air dry! Some parents use hair dryers that have a COLD setting. Never use hot air to dry baby’s skin!!
  5. Apply your favorite barrier cream, ointment, or paste. This step seals in the now-aired skin with a nutritive base coat and keeps the diaper environment from doing too much further damage to the skin. When using cloth diapers, you may want to use liners to protect the cloth from ointment buildup until the rash clears. We encourage you to try natural products that are free from petrolatum, mineral oils, boric acid, “fragrance” (which can mean a whole host of things!), or non-purified lanolin. When in doubt, if you can’t identify the first four or five ingredients as safe, look it up on EWG’s Skin Deep Diaper Cream database.

We recommend that you use Tender Defender at least twice a day to support skin’s good health when there is no rash. Use it at every other diaper change (or more) when there is an active rash. Be aware that the gingerols increase blood flow to the tissue, so your baby may experience a warming sensation, especially if his rash is severe. If you are worried about a potential negative reaction, see your pediatrician immediately.

Cautions: Do not use this product if your baby has any known allergies to any of its ingredients. Always consult a pediatrician before using any product on broken skin. For external use only. Keep out of reach of children. Never use hot air to dry baby’s tender skin. If condition worsens, discontinue use and contact physician immediately.

About Aloe Baby, LLC

Aloe Baby, LLC is dedicated to the notion that babies deserve the highest quality care we can provide. Their skin is delicate and thin, and the environment it encounters–especially in diapers–can be harsh and cruel.

Growing Baby

Aloe Baby, LLC grew out of the need for a product that did not exist for one child’s diaper rash that persisted for three months. It led to a new method for treating diaper rash, and all sorts of other skin issues mammals have when barrier creams, ointments, and pastes are medically preferred. (Patent pending.)

Ginger flowerThe product and company were developed with a commitment to using natural, renewable, plant-based ingredients. Whenever possible, we choose organic ingredients, and many of our oils are wild-crafted in a sustainable manner and provide living wages to workers around the world.
